Cloisonne filigree enamel technology enjoys a high reputation both at home and abroad. It is famous for its rich and solemn artistic effect, fine and clear pattern lines, luxury and elegance. It was listed in the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2006. We can see in Wei Wei's works that this very complex traditional craft makes the creation process more simple through the new school of painting method, and the color is thick and has great appreciation value.

Q: when did you come into contact with painting?

Wei: I began to love drawing when I was 6 years old. I often drew my favorite patterns on paper or on the ground. In class, I often did some errands and drew some pictures on the books (laughter).

Q: when did you formally embark on the path of art and study art systematically, and then how did you come into contact with cloisonne art?

Wei: when I was in high school, I applied for the Beihong art school named by master Xu Beihong. I studied art systematically from the famous painter and artist Zhuang Wei. Three years of high school helped me lay a good foundation for art. In 2001, I was admitted to the school of fine arts of Shenyang University. In 2007, I continued to study for a master's degree in Jiangxi Province. During my stay in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, I came into contact with Jingdezhen porcelain, an intangible cultural heritage, and in-depth contact with jingtailan's filigree enamel technology. Since then, I have been infatuated with this art. Later, I went to Beijing to further study filigree enamel technology.

Q: please talk about your experience in the research of cloisonne filigree enamel technology.

Wei: the development of cloisonne filigree technology is not only the name of a kind of handicraft or craft painting, but also the vivid vitality of an ancient exquisite craft. At present, most of cloisonne's filigree technology still uses the traditional technology. In the long-term research process, I simplified some complicated technology and integrated traditional and modern composition in the creation, trying to make Cloisonne technology easier to learn and find a new direction for creation and development.

Q: what is your artistic orientation?

Wei: when I graduated from the Academy of fine arts, my ambition was to be a professional Cloisonne artist, hoping to make a living with cloisonne art creation, but at that time, there was no market and no development opportunities. In 2008, I was recommended to work in Colleges and universities. During my eight years of working in Colleges and universities, with the enrichment of experience and the deepening of self-education, I changed some previous concepts, and more and more felt that "career" is not important, and "ambition" is more important. As long as I really like it, I can carry out art research and creation in any environment. During my work, I keep pace with each other in teaching and art creation, The creation of cloisonne's filigree works has not been interrupted, and we will strive to be an educational artist in the future.

Q: what do you think are the characteristics of cloisonne filigree enamel painting?

Wei: Cloisonne filigree craft painting can truly reflect the "truth and beauty" in the soul of the painter, as well as the pursuit and artistic conception of life and art. It can be called the art on the fingertips. Cloisonne filigree craft painting is luxurious and elegant, rich and full in color, with a strong three-dimensional effect. Different from traditional Chinese painting and oil painting, Cloisonne is painted on canvas or paper. It is not easy to be damaged and can be preserved for more than a thousand years without discoloration.

Q: at the end of the day, what's your work "fighting snow with plum blossom" on display in "artists Charity Association"?

Wei: the originality of this work comes from an ancient poem: "the sword is sharpened, and the plum blossom fragrance comes from the bitter cold." It's not the gentle spring wind that blows the plum blossom, but the cold wind. It is the same with cloisonne filigree enamel art. It needs firm perseverance. Inheriting this intangible cultural heritage art needs to have the spirit of never flinching. Just like the plum blossom blooming in the cold wind and snow in the works, I want to stick to this traditional art in any environment, constantly improve myself and make it carry forward to the world. This work is donated for charity auction. All the proceeds from the auction will be donated for charity activities.
