Seeking and protecting "root"

Looking through Chen Zhonghui's resume and following his life steps, I realized a kind of tough "pursuit" and "persistence". Chen Zhonghui, 76, was born in Xingtai, Hebei Province, where he practiced calligraphy with his father since childhood. Since 1990, he has been engaged in calligraphy teaching for children. In the past 25 years, he has taught more than 5000 students, and thousands of students have won awards in calligraphy competitions at home and abroad. Therefore, he was awarded the title of "national calligraphy instructor of virtue and art" by the Chinese Artists Association and widely praised by all sectors of society.

Before the Spring Festival, the reporter visited the "forest of Steles against children" in Qiannanyu village, Xingtai, Hebei Province. This is the first forest of children's steles in China. It took Chen Zhonghui and his students two years to build it. A total of 100 steles were erected here, making it a beautiful local cultural landscape. In 2009, Chen Zhonghui actively planned to build a "forest of Chinese model steles" in dongliushangu village of Xingtai on the eve of the 60th anniversary of the founding of new China, which soon became a base for young people to learn calligraphy and receive education. The new boy is easy to move and scribble. Chen Zhonghui uses the horizontal and vertical style of regular script, the thickness and length of the strokes, and the cadence of the strokes to cultivate students' habits of calm, carefulness and patience. With the basic skills of regular script, the dolls can learn other types of script, which is easy to use.

Casting "soul" in edification

In Shanxi Guoxue education base, Chen Zhonghui is busy planning teaching activities. "We take students to the countryside every year. Recently, we are planning to lead the dolls to Yan'an, visit the revolutionary holy land, listen to the red stories, write spring couplets for the people in the old area, and broaden the students' horizons," he said

As can be seen from Chen Zhonghui's teaching plan, these activities have become "normal". Every "61", "11" and "Spring Festival", he will lead students to the park and cultural square to write on site and hold children's calligraphy exhibition. They also went to the old revolutionary base area and the hometown of model workers to write and present spring couplets. He led more than 30 children to participate in the calligraphy exhibition in memory of Zhu De's birthday. The children were moved by the spirit of the older generation of revolutionaries and wrote down the 4-foot banner "Grandpa Zhu De, we miss you" on the spot with respect.

The seeds of "charity" are sown in the hearts of young children. Chen Zhonghui often leads students to the streets. Teachers and students write together, auction on the spot, and donate the money to poor families and people in disaster areas. During the Wenchuan earthquake, he organized a student charity sale to donate to the disaster area. Often lead a batch of children to the "Chinese model forest", "the forest of Steles for resisting the great children" and "the forest of Steles for enlightening the wise children in Xianshan", so that the children can copy the steles and accept the cultural influence. In front of the stone tablets, write famous sayings to let children get the nourishment of culture. At present, Chen Zhonghui is planning to train calligraphy teachers in primary and secondary schools on the platform of Shanxi Traditional Chinese education base, and try his best to promote calligraphy education in primary and secondary schools.
